Who we share your information with
We only share the information needed, and only with people who help us run the business:
- Delivery and courier companies, so your goods reach you
- Payment providers, to take and process payments
- IT, website hosting and software providers who support our systems
- Accountants, auditors and professional advisers
- Marketing service providers who help us send emails or run surveys on our behalf
- Fraud prevention agencies, and law enforcement or regulators where the law requires
We do not sell your personal data and we do not share it with other companies for their own marketing.
Credit accounts and fraud checks
If you ask for credit terms, we may carry out checks with credit reference agencies to confirm your identity and assess your ability to pay. They may keep a record of the search and share information with other organisations. We may also run checks to prevent fraud and money laundering. Fraud prevention agencies can hold records for up to six years.
If a check suggests a fraud or money laundering risk, we may refuse to supply goods or credit. Some of these decisions may be made automatically. You can contact us to ask for a person to review any decision that affects you.
Transfers outside the UK
Some of our providers, such as email, hosting or analytics services, may store or process data outside the UK. Where this happens we make sure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as UK approved contract terms or an adequacy arrangement, so your information stays protected.
Marketing and keeping in touch
If you agree, we will tell you about new ranges, special offers and website improvements by email. You can stop these messages at any time by using the unsubscribe link in an email, by contacting us, or by changing your account settings. You may still receive messages for a short while until your request is processed. We will always send essential messages about your orders and account.
How long we keep your information
We keep personal data only for as long as we need it for the purposes above. We normally keep order and account records for 7 years to meet tax and accounting rules and to deal with any legal claims. We keep them for longer or shorter only where:
- the law requires a different period
- you ask us to erase your data and we have no lawful reason to keep it
- we are involved in a legal claim, in which case we keep it until the matter is closed
- a court or regulator requires it
